This article, published in the New York Times a few days ago, describes how a physician in the Netherlands learned that some Parkinson's patients in even advanced stages the disease can ride a bike perfectly well.
He speculates that bicycling uses a part of the brain not affected by the disease. It's a provocative idea. I thought my fellow bike enthusiasts would find it interesting.
